Spring taxes were due May 10, 2010. Fall taxes will be due on November 10, 2010.
You may access your amounts due by clicking on "tax information". Enter your name and click on "search". Click on the reference number beside your name and your information should come up.
You may pay your taxes at the following local banks:
Bippus State Bank
Crossroads Bank
First Farmers Bank
First Financial Bank
First Merchants Bank
Mutual Bank (if you have an account there)
If you would like to pay in person in the Wabash County Treasurer's Office we are open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
You may pay by mail without penalties as long as your envelope is postmarked on or before November 10th.
I would suggest if you mail your payment on November 10th that you ask the post office to hand stamp the date. In the past we have payments that were put in the mail box on the due date but did not get postmarked until the next day. Those taxpayers had to pay a penalty for late payment.
If you would like to receive a receipt when paying your taxes by mail please include a self-addressed, stampted envelope and we will send you a paid receipt.
Also for your convenience there is a drop box located outside the judicial building off of the court house parking lot.
Your tax statement will have the same look this year as last year. The customer's receipt will be located on the left hand side of the statement.
Demand notices were mailed on July 1, 2010 for the delinquent personal property taxes that were not paid in 2009. This includes delinquent mobile homes. These delinquencies need to be paid before August 31st or they will be certified as a judgment and sent to a collection agency with additional fees added.
If your property is eligible for the 2010 tax sale the taxes need to be paid current before the date of the sale which will be in October. There has been an additional $95.00 tax sale fee added. Please check with the Treasurer's office for the exact amount that needs to be paid to avoid the sale.
